Tavernspite CP School has said a fond farewell to its headmaster of the last 21 years. Brian Jones is one of Pembrokeshire's longest serving headteachers who has seen almost 700 children pass through his school. He was sent on his way with a special tea party and presentation held by the staff and PTA in the last week of term. "I have been here since 1986 and I have genuinely loved every day in the job," said Mr. Jones. "It has been a great pleasure to have worked with such great staff and that includes everyone at this school; the cooks, cleaners, caretakers, classroom assistants, brilliant teachers and two outstanding deputy heads. "I don't think I can put into words what I think and feel about the wonderful children who have attended and still attend the school. They are simply the best and I could not have had any better people and pupils to work with." He was presented with a large watercolour by local artist Andrea Kelland and special 'red scrapbook' of memories written and drawn by the children. "The children wrote some very sweet and touching things about Mr. Jones and it's clear that he was an exceptional headmaster who holds a special place in many children's hearts," said PTA chairman Abigail Hart. • The retirement fund for Mr. Jones is still open. If you'd like to contribute, then please make cheques payable to Brian Jones Retirement Fund and send to PTA, c/o Tavernspite School, Tavernspite, Whitland, Pembs. SA34 ONL
