Penally School had a surprise tea party for their caretaker/cleaner, Mrs. Ann Lloyd, last Friday. This was to celebrate 25 years of service to the school and to say a fond farewell as she was retiring. The pupils sang a special song and read poems.

A number of past colleagues attended, including the headteacher who appointed her, Mr. Colin Griffith.

Mrs. Lloyd started work in 1979 and has seen many changes over the years, including the new extension to the school in 2000. She has enjoyed her time at Penally and even saw her own children pass through the school.

A cake, complete with a 'Henry vacuum cleaner' as shown in the picture, was given to Mrs. Lloyd, along with a collective farewell present, a garden bench and many cards thanking her for all the support she had given the school over the years.

"Mrs. Lloyd was a valuable member of staff, assisting the school in many ways other than her actual role, such as helping with concerts and making costumes for the Christmas play," said acting head, Mr. Graham Doney. "She will be sadly missed by everyone, but we all wish her a long and happy retirement."
