Pentlepoir CP School prides itself on having a 'whole school ethos', which enables all our pupils to take part in every event. This term we have had a number of interesting items, so we decided to incorporate a few of these in a special feature.

Recently, the pupils decided to form a school council, which involves having a committee made up of pupils from each year group. They elect a chairperson and a secretary and they make informed decisions about what they would like to see happen in the school. The headteacher, Mr. Terry Rees, also sits on on the council meetings to give guidance.

This term the council elected to arrange a sponsored walk from Amroth Beach to Coppet Hall Beach. They had to find out the time of the tide using the tide table, arrange sponsor forms, transport etc. This all proved to be a great success (it was almost as if the pupils had arranged the weather to suit as well, for it turned out to be a beautifully sunny afternoon). Parents and staff also joined in the walk and refreshments were provided by Mr. and Mrs. Driscoll, of Coppet Hall Hotel.

World Book Day - was celebrated by the pupils and staff dressing as characters from many popular books, examples being Harry Potter, Snow White, Monsters Inc. and many more. Money that has been collected from the day will be sent to 'Book Aid' which helps to buy books for countries of the Third World.

Pupils who have had individual successes include Oliver, who won his swimming medals in various events in the West Wales Swimming Championships; Sam, with his cup from the Guide Dogs for the Blind sponsored cycle ride; and Molly, who recently travelled to Ireland and came first in the Irish Dance Regional Championship for her age group.

Irish dancing also formed part of the celebrations for St. Patrick's Day, with Danielle, Ben, Molly, Caitlen and Nicole giving a lively demonstration which enthralled the other children completely.

Working alongside the main school is the Pentlepoir Playgroup. This unit is in part of the school building and the children from the playgroup can become involved in most events that happen within the school. Anyone interested in joining can ring Mrs. Caroline Tulley on (01834) 813873.
