FLEUR DE LYS 10 pts. WHITLAND 28
Whitland 1st XV travelled to play Fleur De Lys last Saturday, and came away with the three points after a comfortable 28-10 victory. This was the first match played between the clubs, and Whitland were given a warm welcome by committee, players and home supporters. Fleur De Lys missed two early penalty chances through outside-half Brett Green, before Whitland's own fly-half, Aled Davies, gave the Borderers the lead with a penalty after six minutes. Whitland scored the first of their three tries when centre Matthew Hughes intercepted a long pass by Green, on the halfway line, and ran in under the posts unopposed. Davies added the two points with a successful conversion. Fleur De Lys got on the scoreboard after 22 minutes thanks to a try by winger Romley Barnett, with Green adding the extras. After that, the outside-halves exchanged late penalties to leave the half-time score 13 points to 10 to Whitland. The Borderers increased their lead five minutes into the second half, when after good work by the forwards, outside-half Aled Davies went over in the corner for an unconverted try. Whitland's domination up front started to show and they could have increased their lead on a number of occasions, but unfortunately all too often the final pass failed to go to hand. Indeed, it wasn't until the 32nd minute that the Borderers eventually extended their lead through a converted try by outside-half Davies. Again it came after good work by the forwards, who set up quick possession for the backs to use, with the ball going out along the line, before coming back inside, where Davies was on hand to go over for his second touchdown of the match. He finished off a good afternoon's work with a penalty in the 37th minute, to take his personal tally for the match to 23 points. Whitland Wanderers
Whitland Wanderers should have played Llangadog in a league match, but unfortunately they pulled out on Wednesday being unable to field a side. Tomorrow (Saturday), the Wanderers entertain Narberth at home with a 2.30 pm kick-off.

Also, Whitland Youth should have played Aberystwyth in a league match, but again they cried off on Friday. Tomorrow (Saturday), Whitland Youth travel to play Haverfordwest away, kick-off 2.30 pm.
