Local police are investigating criminal damage to a church in Begelly.

At some point over the last fortnight, persons unknown damaged the floodlights in the grounds of St. Mary's Church.

"The glass has been damaged and the whole unit may require replacing," said a spokesperson for the police, who are looking for witnesses to the incident.
