Whitland residents whose lives have been hit by flooding are being urged by local AM Angela Burns to take part in a Welsh Assembly inquiry.

The Assembly's Sustainability Committee is visiting Carmarthenshire next week and had already arranged to visit St. Clears to take evidence.

But Whitland town councillors made a special request to be visited as well because their community has also been affected by flooding problems in the past.

The committee has agreed to take evidence at Whitland town hall this coming Monday afternoon (June 22).

Residents will be able to pop into a vox pop booth which will record video messages for the committee.

"It is only by listening to people who have been directly affected that the inquiry will get a real measure of just how devastating flooding can be," said Mrs. Burns.

"I would urge anyone who has been the victim of flooding or who has opinions on the subject to make it to the inquiry.

"This is your chance to get your voice heard and what you say will be used by the committee to inform the report that will go to the Government."

The Whitland meeting takes place in the town hall between 3 and 4 pm on Monday and the St. Clears meeting is at the Leisure Centre between 5 and 6 pm.
