Tenby and its visitors have once again shown their appreciation of the Lifeboat Service by donating over £2,000 during their 150th Anniversary Flag Week which was held this year from July 29 to August 3.
John Lucid, manager of Somerfield, allowed the fund-raising committee to collect there during the week and this raised a total of £687.24. Thanks go to him and his staff.
The Abbot of Caldey, father Daniel van Santvoort, gave permission to collect on Caldey for a fortnight and a further £689.04 was donated there. Thanks go to the Abbot with a special thank you to the boatmen who generously ferried volunteers to and from the island for the fortnight. Mention should also be made of Suzanne Bolton and Ben Childs and all those on the island who made everyone welcome.
The other individual collections were as follows: Hazelbrook Caravans (Mrs. P. Sole) £39.27; Wellpark Caravans (Mrs. J. Nash) £12.40; Lodge Park Caravans (Mrs. D. Williams) £34.50; Rowston Park Caravans (Mr. D. Ormond) £4.46; The Boathouse Tearooms, Stackpole Quay (Mrs. Penny Jackson) £5.02; Mrs. Joyce Mawdsley £131.79; Miss Mavis Owen £63.05; Mrs. Sue James £55.93; Mrs. J. Davies £6.98; Mrs. Janet Thomas £45.36; Miss Doreen Mortimer £53.93; Mrs. D. Emmerson/Mrs. Jean Shipley £8.06 and Penally Camp (courtesy of Lt. Col. A. Bowen) £10.32.
A total of £311.14 was taken on the stall in Tudor Square on Flag Day, August 3, and the collection box brought in a further £41.96.
Finally, thanks go to all those volunteers who gave their time to help collect, whether at Somerfield, on Caldey or individually (house-to-house, in local pubs or on the street on Flag Day itself). The fund-raising committee of the RNLI in Tenby appreciates all you do.
