A flag day collection was held last Wednesday by the Saundersfoot, Tenby and District Committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief. Collectors in Saundersfoot, Tenby, New Hedges, Kilgetty and St. Florence raised an impressive total of £1,625.72. Committee chairman, Cynthia Scourfield Lewis, would like to thank committee members who co-ordinated the event, all the collectors who gave their time and the public who gave so generously. The committee also gratefully acknowledges the £1,000 donated by the Flower Festival Committee, the Rector and the church wardens of St Mary's Church, Tenby, which was part of the proceeds of the beautiful Flower Festival held there early last month. They thank too all those who worked so hard to produce the lovely displays. This month's funds have been further boosted by the contents of collection boxes from the St. Florence Shop and from Dales‚ Music Shop, Tenby and also £142 raised at the Macmillan Stall at the Kilgetty Carnival. As readers of the Tenby Observer might guess, the committee's summer fund-raising has surpassed expectations. The money raised will be used to support cancer patients and their families.
