Cornwall's Miracle Theatre Company is touring South West and Wales over the next few months with its new multi-media family show. This production of '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea', loosely based on Jules Verne's novel, has played at theatres all over South West England and comes to Tenby on February 8. Promoted by Span Arts, Miracle Theatre's special blend of sparkling comedy, captivating music and multi-media effects will play havoc with Jules Verne's classic novel and will introduce a whole new generation to the original Nemo. Their new hero is a Cornish fisherman who, disgruntled with fishing quotas and the prospect of having to scupper his beloved trawler, the 'Naughty Lass', makes a last defiant trip to sea in the face of a storm and is washed overboard. On the seabed, he meets Davy Jones, 'borrows' his submarine and sets out to take revenge on those that have put him out of business. But he is surprised to find he is not alone on the 'Nautilus' and that the other crew members have different priorities. "This may not be a traditional panto," said director, Bill Scott, "but this story of a local fisherman, who enters a fantastical underwater world brimming with mermaids and monsters, is genuine family entertainment; a visual and musical delight for adventurous children and adults of all ages." Since it began in 1979, Miracle Theatre Company has built up a first class reputation for its exciting touring productions of classic works and new writing, designed for a wide variety of venues and always with a wide-ranging audience in mind. You can find out what goes on in the minds of tormented villains, in the hearts of heroic mermaids and in an underwater world brimming with shocks and surprises at the De Valence (Tenby Arts Centre) on Tuesday, February 8, starting at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from The De Valence or from Span Arts on (01834) 869323.
