Starting their first Dragons Rugby Trust National Youth League game with a full complement - including a replacement - Tenby were forced to stand two players down at the start of the game as the opposition, Llangwm, turned up with only 13 players.
As a similar pattern had emerged for their two previous games - with Tenby being the culprits - this was accepted and the players and coaches simply took it in their stride.
With the match switched from the Clicketts, due to surface water on the pitch, to the smaller Junior School pitch, a combination of wind and rain and the reduced playing area seemed to suit the players.
The three new players, Gareth Renault, Tom Edwards and William Sillken, all slotted in well and contributed to the team which, despite playing with the wind in the first half, fell behind to a well-struck penalty.
This spurred Tenby on and following a series of driving mauls, a surging 60-metre charge by number eight Sam Smith put Tenby in the lead at halftime 5-3.
Despite spending the majority of the second half camped on the opposition's line, Tenby failed to capitalise on the stream of possession from the set-pieces, with skipper Harry 'Potter' and Nicky Gymer well to the fore. A combination of dropped passes, knock-ons and wrong options, along with a dogged defence by Llangwm, stopped the home side from adding to the half-time scoreline.
Next game is on November 23, away to top-of-the-table Crymych.
