Former Pembrokeshire boxer Jamie Brown enjoyed sporting success of a different kind on Saturday when he took on the challenge of his first professional cage fight against the Mexican Skull Johnson at an event held in Cardiff. For the past two months, Jamie has been training hard in preparation for taking on the 34-year-old Mexican who had not been defeated in his last 57 professional fights. Jamie was known for being a promising boxer in the area when he was a youngster, but had to give up the sport when he suffered a nervous breakdown at the aged of 19. Now after 11 years out of the sporting arena, Jamie feels grateful for another chance at making a living out of a sport he loves. "I like the sport and I want the chance to put a lot of things that have happened in my life in the past right," said the single father-of-four children, who wants them to be proud of him. Jamie managed to overcome Johnson last Saturday by using his hard-hitting skills and all round speed, winning the fight in the second round by a knock out. All his mates at the gym wish to congratulate Jamie on winning the fight. "Well done, keep your chin up, keep up the good work and you will go a long way," said Nik, Tim and Mike.
