The School of Artillery at Manorbier was one of the service establishmnets threatened with closure under the Government’s defence cuts, according to a statement made by Mr. Desmond Donnelly MP.
Tenby’s Welsh-speaking town clerk, Mr. Wynne Samuel, was to contest Pembrokeshire for Plaid Cymru at the next parliamentary election.
The new head of Penally Voluntary School was to be Mr. Gwyn Robins, one of Pembrokeshire’s best-known rugby players.
Narberth branch of the British Legion added further trophies to their list of successes. They were awarded one of the highest commendations - the Honorable Mention Certificate - for the Wales area.
Many memories were revived for members of Tenby and District Arts Club when they celebrated their 21st birthday with a dinner at the Atlantic Hotel. Over 70 people attended, including Tenby’s Mayor and Mayoress, Clr. and Mrs. Chris Jones.
In bright sunshine, crowds packed into Tenby’s Tudor Square to watch the last meet of Tenby Hunt Week. As the riders went through the Five Arches, they were served with the traditional stirrup cup by Mr. W. Vaulk, of the Bush Inn.
