Tenby councillor and former Mayor, Mr. D. Colwyn Williams, claimed that the town’s municipally-owned De Valence Pavilion had not been run efficiently for the previous 12 months. Clr. Williams made his claim when he asked that seven recommendations put forward by the De Valence standing committee be referred back for further consideration. One of the recommendations concerned the appointment of a manager for the De Valence and the standing committee had suggested that a manager be engaged at a gross wage of £20 a week, plus 50 per cent of the net profit after apportionments of central and establishment expenses as per the estimates.
