Hooliganism in Tenby caused the town council great concern. There were nowhere near enough police in the town to cater for a population of around 40,000, it was stated.
Because of the difference over the allocation of sites, the Showmen’s Guild boycotted Tenby’s centuries-old St. Margaret’s Fair for the third year running.
Finalists in the Miss Tenby competition were Shirley Ford, Barbara Simpson, Maitch Reber, Susan Evans, Rhona Davies and Gillian Deland.
The Rev. D. D. Jenkins, pastor of Tenby Congregational Church, for the previous five-and-a-half years, accepted an invitation to the pastorate of Bethesda Welsh Congregational Church, Llangennech, Llanelli.
Some 400 Soroptimists from Great Britain and Ireland would be attending the international conference in Toronto. Among them would be the president of the Tenby and District Club, Miss G. M. Llewellyn of Stepaside.
Tenby golfers won the Victory Shield in the club foursomes championship in the Welsh Amateur Championships at Ashburnham.
