The proposed closure of Narberth Secondary School was not an issue of education, but one of survival of a community, Clr. T. L. Jones told Narberth RDC.

Police road blocks were set up in Carmarthenshire following an attempt to enter the post office at Llanmiloe, Pendine. The raiders were disturbed around 3 am by security police on night duty at the Proof and Experimental Station, Pendine, and the county police were alerted.

Torrential rain and high winds prevented Tenby Round Table from holding their Civic Week bed push.

Tenby’s largest fashion store, T.P. Hughes and Son Ltd, announced that they were going into top gear for Civic Week. That was no idle boast - with six fashion shows a day, they really made the week something special for the women of Tenby.

The wonderful stretch of Tenby’s golden South Beach made a perfect setting for the angling competition organised by the Pembroke and District Angling Club, many of whose members were Tenby sportsmen. There were no less than 108 rods, and of those competitors, 15 were juniors. Heaviest bag winner was Mr. R. Wells, Saundersfoot, heaviest fish - Mr. T. Cavaney, Pembroke; junior winner - Brian Davies, Tenby.

Pupils of Tenby County Primary School and members of Tenby Youth Club took part in a May Day Festival of Youth at the De Valence Pavilion. A very large audience enjoyed a programme of varied entertainment ranging from a delightful May Day tableau to a spectacular gymnastic display by the senior boys of the Youth Club.
