Six people left their Lampeter Velfrey home little knowing that within minutes they would be homeless. For, in their absence, fire raged through the 10-roomed building and all that they were left with were the clothes they wore... and 100lbs of honey which survived the blaze.

Crockford, and presidents and members of many of the 19 clubs in the Divisional Union, attended the 12th annual dinner of the Soroptimist Club of Tenby and District at the Royal Gate House Hotel. Guest speaker was Henry M. Sinclair, of Maesteg, a well-known Rotarian, who delighted his listeners with his clever and humorous address.
