Tenby was to lead the fight for the retention of passenger and goods services on the Whitland - Pembroke Dock line. At a no-punches-spared public meeting in the De Valence Pavilion, speaker after speaker condemned the policy of British Rail and the ‘ruthless’ approach of their divisional manager, Mr. R. C. Hilton. Over 150 people attended the meeting, which had been convened by the Mayor, Alderman Ivor Crockford. The climax was the unanimous adoption of a resolution calling on the Minister of State for Wales, Mr. George Thomas, to institute a full inquiry into the policy of the British Railways Board.
A suggestion that there should be a toll or levy on dogs in order to provide the money to employ a toilet attendant purely for dogs came from Tenby councillor Mr. Gilroy Phillips.
Filming was to take place in Pembrokeshire for a new eight-part television serial ‘Conqueror’s Road.’

On a bone-hard ground, Tenby had no answer to the speed of the home side, and, but for goal kicks, really never looked like scoring. R. Powling kicked a penalty and long goal.
