May 13, 1966: There were three new faces on Tenby Town Council as the result of the municipal election. Only one of the three retiring members to retain his seat was former borough treasurer, Mr. M. B. (Harry) Eastlake). Defeated after nine years on the council was Mrs. Joan Gwenllian Lee, a former Mayor. Also defeated was Mr. Charles Edward Birt, the High Street estate agent, who was the only candidate not to attend the count. Top of the poll with exactly 1,000 votes was Mr. Wallace Dunmall Davies, a retired baker. Elected were: Davies W. D. 1,000; Fry F.C. 958; Lee Hector 801; Eastlake M. B. 726.

Jim Codd of Broadmoor, won the West Wales featherweight championship for the fourth successive year at the Masonic Hall, Haverfordwest.

Saundersfoot’s first ‘night club’ licence was granted to Mr. Brian Reeves, manager of St. Bride’s Hotel, for their new Commodore Hotel.

Homes of several old people in Tenby were to be redecorated by members of St. Mary’s Church Youth Fellowship.

Tenby’s Scouts and Guides Hall was to be made more comfortable by the installation of central heating and by insulating the building. The heating alone would cost £350 and the Tenby Rotary Club had undertaken to meet half the cost.
