A PARTY was held at the Avenue Centre in Tenby last week to celebrate the retirement of James Merriman. James has been attending the Avenue since he was four-years-old, which adds up to an incredible 53 years.
“We know as a family that ‘The Avenue’ has been the most important part of James’s life with wonderful friends and brilliant staff,” said Dave Merriman. “Over the 53 years, there have been so many dedicated and caring professionals working with James, and it would be unfair and impossible to single out any individuals, and following in that great tradition, the current staff have given James a memorable send-off, with lots of tea and cakes, and a lively singalong with ‘Dennis the Music Man’.”
James will now be living at ‘The Brambles’, in Broadmoor, but is hoping to drop in occasionally to see all his friends.
During his time at ‘The Avenue,’ James enjoyed all the activities (some more than others!), but he really loved the many dramatic productions they put on. Ghostbusters and Mama Mia were two favourites. Probably the times he enjoyed the most were the work experiences at Morris Brothers and previously at ‘Hilling and Allen’ in Upper Frog Street. It was great to see Brian, Penny, Lionel and Joan at his retirement bash.
“On behalf of James and his family, we would like to thank all the Avenue staff and customers, past and present, for all the care and love that they have given James. We will be forever in your deb,” added Dave.
