Tenby is well on course for the switch-on of its Christmas lights this weekend, it was revealed on Monday
Earlier in the year, Tenby faced a festive black-out as two rounds of tendering for the erection of the lights had been in excess of the budget allowed by the town council.
After several appeals, G. and I. Builders stepped into the breach and things are set for the big switch-on at the weekend
"However, there has been a slight hitch in Tudor Square," Clr. Mrs. Maureen Ward told the Observer this week.
Clr. Mrs. Ward revealed that because of building work currently underway at certain premises in the Square, G. and I. Builders had been unable to erect the lights across the road.
"Although we are trying to solve the problem, it may not be in time for the big switch-on," she said.
"It may be the case that we will not be able to put them up at all in this area this year, and we'd like to apologise to everyone in advance if that is the case."
Clr. Mrs. Ward and the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, also urged all those businesses in the town with brackets, to erect Christmas trees to help bring even more Yuletide colour to the townscape this Christmas.
