Tenby Town Council met with Chris Osborne and Nigel Firth, of Tenby Chamber of Trade and Tourism, on Tuesday night, to discuss the Christmas lighting displays in South Parade. At present, the Chamber of Trade and Tourism look after the funding for the South Parade lights, while the town council are responsible for the rest of Tenby's festive displays. However, Mr. Osborne's proposal was to hand over the Chamber's lighting funds to the council so that they could run both as one item. "It makes sense from both points of view to hand over our lighting funds to the council, so that the whole of the town's lighting can be run under one electrical contractor, rather than two," explained Mr. Osborne, who revealed that funds of £2,035 were available for the South Parade's lighting. Clr. Mike Evans thought the idea would work in theory, but suggested that if it was accepted, both parties should meet again in three years time to re-assess the situation. "It certainly would work out cheaper for the town and both parties to fund all the lighting under one contractor, but after an initial three-year period, I believe the situation should be looked at again," he said. Councillors, however, agreed to discuss the proposals and notify the Chamber of Trade and Tourism when they had come to a decision.
