The funeral of Pembrokeshire fisherman Jack Walker who sadly passed away after being rescued from the water a mile off the coast of Milford Haven, will take place this month - with fellow fishermen asked to attend wearing their yellow wellies.

The thirty-five-year-old father of two from Manorbier and Steynton was treated at the Port Authority jetty by ambulance crews and critical care medics on the afternoon of Thursday, May 1, but despite extensive efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead.

Paying tribute following his sad passing, Jack’s family said: “We are completely heartbroken at losing our kind, caring, and loving son, grandson, dad, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law.

“A great friend to all. Jack tragically left us doing what he loved most.

“Our thoughts and heartfelt wishes go out to his crew mates that day. We would like to thank everyone for their support.”

The funeral will take place on Friday, May 23, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 11am, followed by refreshments at the Royal British Legion Club in Milford Haven.

A spokesperson for Tom Newing funeral directors said: “Jack was a devoted dad to Cindy and Violet, dearly loved son of Joanne, much loved brother of Lydia, Roxy, Holly, Kenzo and Storm, cherished grandson to Yvonne, treasured uncle of Harvey, Ezmae and Kody and dear brother-in-law to Josh and Jay.”

“Jack will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his extended family and many friends.”

Attendees do not need to wear black, and fishermen are asked to come wearing their yellow wellingtons.

There will be immediate family flowers only. Donations, if desired, can be made to The Fishermen’s Mission via www.fishermensmission.org.uk
