Llyr Hughes Griffiths, Plaid Cymru the Party of Wales‚ prospective Assembly candidate for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire has slammed the Labour - Liberal Assembly Government for late payment of agricultural grants to farmers in the area.
Addressing a gathering of the party's South Pembrokeshire members on Saturday, Mr. Griffiths said: "This Government has changed the allocation of sheep annual payments from three times a year to an annual payment to be issued in October. However, even though we're well into November, Pembrokeshire farmers have yet to receive their entitled payments.
"Farmers in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland on the other hand have already received their cash.
"It's no good Mike German blaming computer difficulties, livestock farmers in the area need this cash now. The industry has had a torrid time, and the stalling of entitled payments makes an already difficult period nearly impossible for our struggling farmers."
Mr. Griffiths is a former member of the Wales Young Farmers Clubs National Board of Management and is an associate member of the FUW.
