Sir,
As a regular visitor to Tenby, I have noticed over the years, many famous names who have visited the town.
May I draw your attention to another - that of Laurie Lee of 'Cider With Rosie' fame. He spent many summers at Tenby with his friend, the famous painter Antonthy Devas and his wife. They stayed at Little Rock House as guests of Geraldine Lawrence, a local pillar of the community and a JP (although she also cut a rather terrifying presence as Laurie dubbed her 'The Ogre of Lexden Terrace!').
Some of the drawings made by Laurie of his time in Tenby can be seen in his autobiography, 'The Well Loved Stranger', by Valerie Grove, and the Devas' own holiday books, which contain all of Laurie's drawings, are described as '...a priceless record of Tenby summers.'
Mr. D. Singleton, Grove, Oxon.
