AS part of a National Campaign for Learning, Colby Woodland Garden at Amroth is holding a Family Learning weekend tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, offering the chance for all the family to take a healthy walk in the crisp autumn air.
Children can discover the woodlands and collect some seeds to plant up their own tree seed, do bark rubbing, leaf identification quiz, collage and round off your visit with a bowl of home-made soup or a mug of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream in the Bothy tea-rooms.
From tomorrow, the Autumn Exhibition in the gallery at Colby will be featuring the work of Tim Deere Jones, so after your walk you can enjoy the superb photographic images of Pembrokeshire land and seascapes.
As a marine pollution consultant, Tim's work has given him the opportunity to visit and photograph coastlines throughout the UK, Europe and Australia, but the Pembrokeshire coast remains the major inspiration for his photography.
Working without the use of coloured filters or other special effects, Tim's photography captures the stunning images created by the ever-changing interplay between the direct light of the sky, the reflected light of the sea and the solidity of the land.
Tim said "My working method requires good local knowledge, patience while watching the evolution of the relationship between land, sea and sky and constant adjustment of the camera to accommodate the changing conditions. It's a bit like being an ambush predator, everything has to be perfect in order to pounce and capture the moment you want to record."
Make sure you pounce before November 3 - last day of the exhibition and the last day of the season before Colby closes for the winter.
The garden is open from 10 am until 5 pm. Admission is free to children and National Trust members, adults £2.80. For further details, telephone (01834) 811885.
