The coastguard teams from Tenby, St. Govan's, Manorbier and Castlemartin were tasked on Saturday evening to a 29-year-old climber who was climbing cliffs at St. Govan's Head when a 10 lb boulder fell from the cliff face and hit his leg causing severe lacerations and a possible broken foot. The climber was on ropes and these held him to the cliff, but he fell on the rope to the base of the cliffs. Members of the coastguard cliff team and a paramedic were lowered down to the injured man and administered medical attention before the rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor arrived and winched the injured climber aboard and flew him to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, for treatment.
