Milford Haven Port Authority has appointed Andy Jones as its new finance director, to take over from Richard Pugh when he retires in September after 16 years with the organisation.
For Andy, who has already started work shadowing Richard in the role, this is a return to his native Wales after gaining a wealth of experience over the past 12 years from senior commercial, operational and financial roles in Canada and, previous to that, in Bristol with the retail industry and Cardiff with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Andy will be responsible for managing financial resources at the port, establishing a clear financial strategy and, as a member of the senior management team, will play a key role in determining and delivering the overall business strategy.
Alec Don, chief executive of Milford Haven Port, said: "We are delighted to have Andy on board. We need a strong financial performance in order to have the capacity to re-invest in port activities, and that is why it's critical we recruit people of Andy's calibre. Richard is a hard act to follow, but we are confident Andy will be an invaluable addition to the team."
Commenting on his new post, Andy added: "I'm very much looking forward to applying some of the experience I've gained over the past 20 years to a challenging role like this, in a part of the world I really care about."
