An exhibition by photographer Mike Cullis ARPS opens at Pembroke Dock library next week.
Through The Lens is a collection of Mike’s photographs taken around the world. He has a varied interest in all types of photography, but has a particular passion for wildlife photography.
“I am retired from full-time employment and dedicate most of my time to ‘capturing the moment’ using my Canon photographic equipment,” says Mike, originally from Cheshire, who moved to Pembrokeshire in 1981.
As well as from photographing wildlife in the UK, Mike has travelled to The Arctic, Kenya, Namibia and Florida in pursuit of his hobby. His personal collection comprises over 50,000 images and the exhibition is a selection taken from this.
“It’s been a wonderful journey,” added Mike.
“Since I began photographing wildlife, I’ve achieved my Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in Natural History, had images and articles published in several UK magazines and have made the final selection in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of The Year.
“However, for me, the greatest achievement is my library of images which gives me immense pleasure. Each one allows me to remember the moment and to relive the experiences of witnessing wildlife in its different forms.”
Mike is an active member of the Tenby Camera Club, is a Welsh Photographic Federation judge and presents his work to camera clubs across across Wales. His website is MHCphotography.co.uk
Through The Lens opens on Thursday, December 3, and runs until Saturday, December 19.
