TO quote from an old saying: ‘The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires’.
Surely all of us can recall memorable teachers who have motivated us to achieve our potential. One such ex pupil Rachel Ann Rasmussen (née Brown), a former pupil of St. Teilo’s Primary School and Ysgol Greenhill School, is seeking a number of teachers who have inspired her to pursue her talent in art.
Rachel, who was born and brought up in Tenby, always enjoyed art and achieved an ‘A’ grade at A level, but chose drama to complete her degree. Now married and a mother of two young boys, she lives in Cardiff. She decided she needed to do something to supplement the family income whilst being a stay-at-home mother.
Rachel began painting scenes from Tenby and the beautiful Welsh coastline. She is now an accomplished artist and teaches beginners at classes in Cardiff. On Saturday, September 30, Rachel will launch an exhibition of her work in the Norwegian Church Art Centre, Cardiff.
“I would love to get in touch with Mrs. Anna Tynon from my primary school and Mrs. Roberts, Mrs. Rees and Mr. Graham Hadlow from my comprehensive school. I want to thank them for inspiring me and invite them to my exhibition,” said Rachel.
Rachel’s artwork is very popular in Tenby and can be purchased in ‘The Nook’. Especially at this time of year when the Ironman Triathlon takes place Rachel has been signing personalised prints depicting the Ironman in The Nook.
Rachel will also be selling her work in this year’s Christmas Market in Swansea and Cardiff.
