Local charity fund-raisers, the Evegreen Nomads recently made a donation to the Tenby Joans Club to purchase a new cupboard for the club's equipment. The club is based at the Community Hall in Augustace Place and has a large attendance on Thursday afternoons. Clarice Upham, the organiser, accepted the keys of the new equipment on behalf of the Joans Club. A further donation was made to Mr. A. Neville, who suffers from leukaemia and has to make journeys to London for his treatment. The Nomads wish him well. The Nomads also made a donation to the Harriet Davis Trust recently. The Trust provides three selfcatering holiday houses in the Tenby area. These houses are fully adapted and equipped for families with disabled children. The cheque was presented by Audrey Thomas on behalf of the Nomads and was accepted by Helen Lees Griffiths on behalf of the Trust. Also, special thanks to Bob Lowe who supported the Nomads with this donation.
CONKER COMPETITION
The Nomads held their annual conker competition recently at the Evergreen Inn. Although the forecast was not too good, it turned out to be a pleasant afternoon. The Senior Shield was won by Ray Duffy, Tenby Coachworks, while joint winners of the Junior Shield were Jodie Nevitt and Dean Duffy. The Nomads would like to thank everyone for their support. Special thanks go to Dave Glanville for the barbecue and 'Arfa' for the conkers; also the staff of the Evergreen Inn and everyone else who helped to make it an enjoyable afternoon.
