EVERY day, people are doing things behind the scenes to look after the Cleddau River and its wildlife.

The Cleddau Community Award has been established to raise awareness of the brilliant work that is being done by the community in Pembrokeshire to look after the Cleddau Estuary catchment and its wildlife.

The Award is organised by local volunteers and was inspired by the actions of Pembrokeshire residents who work so hard to protect the historic Cleddau and Milford Haven waterway.

Help celebrate our wonderful community by nominating anyone you know who has done this kind of work.

And it’s not too late for you to get involved this Summer! Organise a slide show, a sponsored river walk, a sailing event, a litter pick, or anything else you like which might help raise awareness about the river, its wildlife or local communities.

Perhaps you have convinced your family to take shorter showers, or maybe your family changed washing powder or shampoo. Your sailing club might have done a river litter pick. You might take people on the river and help them learn about its history and its beauty.

You might have taken a school group to visit the river banks. You might have installed a water butt or planted a wildlife friendly garden. You might be protecting wildlife on your land or planting different crops.

Your shop might have stopped using plastic bags or encouraged your employees to do a litter pick.

You might have volunteered for an organised project. All activities are welcome - from water testing to poster making. Any individuals or groups who have made a contribution to the Cleddau or its wildlife are welcome to enter. Any age, any project, any idea is welcome!

The organisers want to hear from all sections of the community, whether volunteers or professionals. Tell them what you’ve been doing!

By highlighting the great work which is already happening, they also hope to raise awareness that there are small things everyone can do to help this Pembrokeshire river and its precious wildlife
