VISITORS to Carew Castle will have the chance to delve into centuries of local history this summer, as Unearthing History: Pembrokeshire’s Past returns on Monday, August 3.

The event will bring together archaeologists, historians and heritage organisations for a day of discoveries, demonstrations and hands-on activities exploring the people, places and objects that have shaped the county.

As well as examining a wide range of artefacts and collections, guests will be able to meet experts and enthusiasts and learn more about archaeological work taking place across the region. Organisations attending will include Heneb – The Trust for Welsh Archaeology, Pembrokeshire Prospectors, Tenby Museum and Castell Henllys Iron Age Village.

There will also be plenty for younger visitors to explore, with interactive archaeology activities, games and opportunities to try traditional skills. Knight School and Have-a-go Archery will also add a distinctly medieval flavour to the day.

Unearthing History: Pembrokeshire’s Past takes place on Monday, August 3 from 10am to 4pm. Normal admission fees apply, and some elements of the event have stepped access.
