Saundersfoot Rotary is celebrating its golden jubilee with a community concert this month.
On Thursday, March 26, Saundersfoot Rotary Club will mark 50 years of service by hosting a community concert featuring Tenby Male Choir and Côr y Môr at The Regency Hall in Saundersfoot, starting at 6.30pm.
This milestone is the result of a group of like-minded people coming together and establishing the Club in 1976, all dedicated to Rotary’s guiding principle of ‘Service above self’, which still stands true with members today.
Over the years, Saundersfoot Rotary has raised around £500,000 for worthy causes via activities such as the popular Duck Race or Hog Roast, while thousands upon thousands of hours have been volunteered to make a difference to people of all ages within the community – whether supporting Tenderfoot Disabled Sports Club, running interschool competitions to promote writing, environmental awareness and the arts, supporting Saundersfoot Wombles with beach cleans, or planting purple crocuses around Saundersfoot to brighten up the village whilst at the same time promoting awareness of the fight against polio.
These are just a few examples from among a very, very long list.
Tickets for the concert include entry to the raffle and can be purchased in advance from The Regency Hall and The Shoe Box in Saundersfoot or can be bought on the door at a cost of £10.
In addition, a silent auction will be held for a beautiful painting of Saundersfoot entitled ‘The Beach Front’, kindly donated by talented local artist, Andrew Phillips.
There will also be a display showcasing the Club’s history.
All monies raised during the evening will go towards future event costs, such as the replacement of well-used equipment and the purchasing of first aid kits, to enable Saundersfoot Rotary to continue serving the community as the Club looks forward to the next 50 years.
