President Diane Rigden wished members of St Issell’s WI a Happy New Year with a warm welcome to the speaker for January, Sue Gould.

Sue dresses miniature dolls, and she had brought along several dolls which she had dressed in various styles over many years,

Sue had samples of materials, silk, velvet and lace, together with miniature accessories. She also showed ladies the very fine needles she used to use to make these miniature outfits. These days she is finding it difficult to do such intricate work, however.

Sue was happy for members to examine her dolls, and she was thanked for an interesting afternoon by Anne-Marine Littlewood.

Business continued after welcome refreshments, with Anne Slade being thanked for the flowers for the top table, and birthday wishes going to Jean Roberts, Joyce Ludlow, Bev Bennett, Shirley Will and Madelene Brace.

Everyone said they had enjoyed the Christmas party. The carol service at Begelly Church had raised just over £150. Diane had delivered the Christmas cards to the various residential homes; all were delighted to receive them.

Resolutions were noted and votes taken. Diane read the news letter. Four ladies were going to the Hints and Tips day on November 17, hoping to gain some information for the rosebowl entry. There was some discussion about streaming the Wales Conference, but this needed further thought. A meeting was arranged for January 22 at St Bride’s Hotel at 10.30am for anyone interested in ‘Anything Goes’, when a final decision would be made.

Fundraising was discussed, and Diane suggested a possible bus trip to Narberth, but this would be considered when the weather was better.

Anne Slade was thanked for printing the programmes and Julia King-Thomas for arranging the speakers for the coming year.

This month’s competition winner was Anne-Marie, and Sandra John was the lucky raffle winner. Wishing everyone a safe journey home, Diane reminded everyone that the February meeting would also be at 2pm.
