Saundersfoot Christmas lights switch on: Festive fun across the seaside village

Saundersfoot will kick-off the festive season on Saturday, November 21, with an afternoon of family celebrations leading up to the Coastal Christmas Big Switch On.

Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy Santa’s sleigh, a lantern parade, festive singing and the popular Children’s Elf Fun Run, before the seaside village lights up for Christmas at 5pm.

This year local holiday letting agency ‘Puffin Cottage Holidays’ is again funding 75 Christmas trees, including their milling and preparation, to be displayed at local businesses around Saundersfoot.

A massive thank you goes to Vicki and Andy Broomhall at Puffin for their support, which will help bring a festive sparkle to the village’s streets, alongside the celebrations coordinated with local community organisations.

The afternoon’s programme begins with the Elf Run along the Strand from 2pm. Later, Santa’s sleigh, accompanied by elves and the lantern parade, will make its way towards the Sensory Gardens for the switch-on.

Santa and the Chair of Saundersfoot Community Council will switch on the Sensory Gardens lights, with Christmas trees around the village lighting up at the same time.

Singing from local children and choir Côr y Môr will add to the festive atmosphere.

Further activities being planned include a Christmas Stocking Trail around participating village businesses, Santa postboxes at SPAR and the library, live music and appearances from Saundersfoot’s much-loved village mascots.

Visitors are encouraged to make a day of it, explore the independent shops, enjoy the village’s cafés, pubs and restaurants, and support local businesses as the Christmas season gets underway.
