Pembroke’s ‘Voices at the Castle’ event, due to take place tonight (September 12) and tomorrow has been postponed until June 2026 due to the high winds forecast.
Friday night was set to see a celebration of local talent at Pembroke Castle - with a magical evening featuring four exceptional Pembrokeshire choirs: Pembroke Choir, Tenby Choir, The Paul Sartori Community Choir, and Pembrokeshire Pop Voices; whilst Saturday night’s show has lined-up internationally acclaimed tenor Russell Watson, and Pembrokeshire ladies’ group, Bella Voce.
A spokesperson for Pembroke Castle said: “We are so sorry to share that, due to the forecast for high winds and dangerous weather conditions, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone Voices at the Castle – A Weekend of Song.
“The concert weekend will now take place at some point in June next year with the dates being announced soon and all tickets purchased for this so far will be valid for the new date.
“The wind and rain forecast for the whole weekend mean that we cannot guarantee the safety of the audience, performers and crew. Although the Saturday is looking like the less problematic day, the event only works if we can build and de-rig the equipment safely.
“Of particular concern are winds of 40-50mph that we now expect to come in very early on Sunday morning.
“The safety of our musicians, guests, and volunteers must always come first. We are extremely disappointed, as we know many of you were looking forward to this weekend as much as we were.
“This decision has been made by the Pembroke Castle and Paul Sartori Team in consultation with the event’s key contractors and was not in the control of the artists performing.
“Having spoken to all of the artists involved we can assure you that they are as disappointed as anybody, but they are looking forward to being with us on the new date in much better conditions to help raise funds for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.
“Thank you so much for your understanding and continued support – we can’t wait to welcome you next spring for an unforgettable celebration of music raising funds for a great cause,” they added.
All tickets, whether purchased online or over the counter, will be valid for the new date, however, anybody wishing to refund their ticket should get in touch with Pembroke Castle at: [email protected] or 01646 681510, or Paul Sartori on 01437 763223.
