Step into the world of 12th-century warfare, tradition and pageantry this August Bank Holiday weekend at Carew Castle.

From Saturday to Monday, August 23 to 25, Carew Castle will welcome Historia Normannis - one of the UK’s leading living history groups - for a full-scale medieval spectacle.

A medieval encampment will feature live demonstrations of combat, craftsmanship and daily life, capturing the atmosphere of a 12th-century army on the move.

Highlights will include militia training at 11am, a medieval fashion show at 12 noon, the ceremonial arming of a knight at 1pm, a Shire Court session at 2pm, and a tournament at 3pm. Visitors can also take part in Have-a-Go Archery from 11.30am to 3pm each day.

Daisy Hughes, manager of Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Historia Normannis to Carew for the August bank holiday. The Weekend of Warriors and Weaponry promises an unforgettable experience, offering visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and stories of 12th-century life.

“Whether you're drawn by the clash of swords, the rhythms of courtly life or the opportunity to test your skills with a bow, it’s a fantastic day out for the whole family.”

The event is included free with normal Castle admission. A small charge will apply for some activities.
