THE Late Summer Fair at Aberglasney Gardens on September 5-6 will be an event to tease all the senses, with a mansion full of orchids, a garden full of plants, live music throughout the weekend, local produce stalls and food on the go.

During the weekend children will be able to play in Aberglasney’s natural playground and there will be a trail for younger visitors to find the clues hidden around the gardens.

The Welsh Orchid Festival, organised by the Orchid Study Group, will completely take over the Grade II listed mansion. They will be on display and for sale from specialist orchid nurseries who will offer advice. There will also be relaxed, informative and fun orchid talks with orchid enthusiasts happy to share their experiences in growing these fabulous plants.

Amongst those confirmed to appear on the music main stage on the North Lawn on Saturday will be the Carmarthen Ukuleles and the Tom Collin Band duo. On the Sunday there will be the Saxy Brass and the Flyrites. There will also be a belly dancing performance by the Lotus Sisters on the Sunday and Carmarthen Spinners will be demonstrating the craft of spinning on both the Saturday and the Sunday in the Cloister Garden.

The fair will feature stalls featuring a high quality selection of West Wales food producers. There will also be on-the-go hot food stalls as well as the Carmarthenshire attraction’s own tearoom with its terrace overlooking the Pool Garden.

Aberglasney was made famous by the BBC television series “A Garden Lost in Time” which followed its restoration. Today it offers 10 acres of over 20 different garden styles from formal to woodland.

The entrance fee to the Summer Fair includes admission to the gardens, and Aberglasney members are admitted to the event free of charge.
