HEAD to Narberth’s Town Moor this summer as artist Sahar Saki brings her immersive exhibition #PersianTour to galleries across South and West Wales, including SPAN Arts.
Blending poetry, music, calligraphy, scent, and movement, each venue becomes a living artwork – a “mini Iran” – where audiences can step inside Persian heritage and experience it through all five senses.
Expect large-scale painted calligraphy, live dance, traditional music, and hands-on workshops in calligraphy and pattern-making. A truly multi-sensory celebration of contemporary Iranian culture.
Each gallery will be transformed into a living artwork, with Saki painting Persian poetry directly onto the walls in large-scale calligraphy. The exhibition incorporates the work of five contemporary Iranian poets and artists, alongside performances by two dancers and contributions from three artistic mentors. Hear Persian music, and take part in interactive workshops, engaging in Persian calligraphy and traditional pattern design. The scent of rosewater will also fill the space, ensuring that audiences experience Persian culture through all their senses.
Saki’s work is rooted in reimagining spaces and offers Welsh audiences a deeper, more immersive encounter with Iranian culture.
At the heart of #PersianTour sits collaboration and cultural exchange. A multilingual catalogue with Persian poetry translated into Welsh and English will accompany the exhibition, bridging cultures and languages.
The exhibition welcomes people of all backgrounds and ages, especially aiming to engage women of colour and Middle Eastern women in the arts.
As part of #PersianTour, SPAN Arts will be hosting three events, and these are the three dates that you’ll be able to come and see the piece and the artist working, at Town Moor, Narberth.
