Cwm Arian’s apple press is back on the road this autumn, visiting community venues across Pembrokeshire to help people turn their harvest into juice to take home.

Cwm Arian is a community benefit society working across North Pembrokeshire, West Camarthenshire and South Ceredigion to empower local communities through sustainable development, renewable energy projects, woodland management, and community wellbeing initiatives.

The programme begins in Tremarchog/St Nicholas on September 19 and continues through to October.

People can bring apples from their gardens and orchards, watch them being pressed and fill their own bottles. Most dates are drop-in events, with local cafés and activities giving people a chance to stay for a while after the pressing.

The programme also includes a dedicated session at Y Stiwdio in Hermon for people with large quantities of apples. This date is by advance booking only. At the end of October, Cwm Arian will bring the press to an Autumn Open Day at its CoedUNO woodland in Tegryn, where orchardist Martin Hayes will lead sessions on caring for fruit trees.

Event dates

  • Saturday 19 September, 10am–3pm — Neuadd Bentref Tremarchog / St Nicholas Village Hall. Caffi Nyth y Fran / Crow’s Nest Cafe will serve light refreshments, including apple cake. Café proceeds will support the upkeep of the village hall.
  • Sunday 20 September, 10am–3pm — Yr Hen Ysgol, Dinas Cross. Community apple juicing.
  • Tuesday 22 September, 10am–4pm — Y Stiwdio, Hermon. For large quantities of apples only. Slots must be booked in advance by emailing [email protected].
  • Saturday 26 September, 10am–3pm — Canolfan Llwynihirion Brynberian. Caffi’r Hydref will serve hot drinks and seasonal cakes.
  • Sunday 4 October, 10am–3pm — Castell Gwalchmai / Walwyn’s Castle. With a café, quiz and children’s crafts.
  • Sunday 11 October, 10am–3pm — Neuadd yr Hen Ysgol, Trewyddel / Moylegrove. Tea and cake will be available throughout the event, with vegetarian cawl from 12.30pm while it lasts.
  • Wednesday 28 October, 10am–4pm — CoedUNO, Tegryn. A free Autumn Open Day with apple juicing, a chance to explore the woodland and orchard sessions led by Martin Hayes.

There is no need to book for the village juicing events. Visitors should bring their apples and plenty of their own bottles. Pressing costs 60p per litre. The Y Stiwdio session is reserved for large harvests and must be booked in advance.
