Following on from the highly successful Ukraine fundraiser Coffee Morning, when over £1,000 was raised in under two hours, Jameston Community Hall’s next big event will be a Craft Fair.

Open from 10 am to 4 pm, the Craft Fair will be packed with stalls, full of interest and sure to draw a crowd to Jameston Village Hall (SA70 8QG) on Saturday, May 14.

A wide variety of handcrafted items for sale made by local people will be available: paintings, ceramics, polymer clay earrings, sea glass jewellery, painted pebbles, turned wood, cards, upcycled textiles, handmade bags, knitted goods, crocheted items, etc. Fresh flowers and cacti will also be available. And Manorbier artist Margaret McCracken has kindly donated a painting for a raffle prize.

The event is in aid of much-needed hall funds, which will be used for the purchase of news banners, signs and equipment as needed.

If successful, the Craft Fair is hoped to become a regular event.

Jameston Community Hall is an excellent facility that is just getting active again after a fallow time of Covid restrictions. The community has got together to restore the former Anglican Mission Chapel (built in 1880), adding a kitchen and toilets, turning it into a lovely village hall.

As well as a providing a home for Manorbier Community Council meetings, the hall is now the venue for a craft and chatter group, needlecraft, art group (you don’t have to be an artist).

Regular monthly Saturday evening events are held there too: quizzes, ‘fun’ bingo, and film nights - safer and less expensive than going to the cinema. The next film at 7.30 pm on Saturday, May 14 will be Dream Horse starring Toni Colette and Damian Lewis.

Did you know that there is also a weekly WI Country Market at Jameston Community Hall on Wednesday mornings from 10 am to 12 noon?

The Hall Committee, who are holding their AGM this evening, would love the community hall to be fully appreciated and used by the community on the doorstep. If you live in Jameston or nearby, why not check out one of the activies at your local hall, make new friends and have some fun?
