Summerhill WI’s festive December meeting was chaired by Dawn with members enjoying an excellent chip supper along with a glass of bucks fizz.

Marlene was warmly thanked for organising the supper and arranging the demonstrator. Thanks were also given to Linnia for arranging the meal at Noble Court which, everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

The ladies who attended St Issell’s WI’s Carol Service and Stepaside Chapel’s Candlelit Carol Service enjoyed both afternoons and the following refreshments.

Ladies were reminded to read the resolutions in WI Life as they will be voting on them in January. With no further business Dawn introduced John Manchester who handed out a marvellous selection of chocolate for ladies to taste ranging from 85% cocoa content dark chocolate to 0% cocoa white chocolate. He also handed out a lovely selection of truffles for tasting before being warmly thanked for his presentation. He then chose the 2024 motto which was ‘There are friends, there is family, there are friends that become family’. Thanks to Linnia for entering this.

The raffle was drawn with Jane winning the white wine and the mulled wine, Margaret the biscuits and Dawn the WI calendar.

More refreshments were served before a wonderful selection of lucky dip gifts were distributed. Social time followed before the evening concluded with an exchange of Christmas cards and wishes for a Happy Christmas.

The next meeting will be on Monday, January 8 in Summerhill Hall at 7pm when the speaker will be Dave Golding from PATCH. Eirianwen, Elaine and Hilary are the hostesses
