Dylan Coastal Resort this month will celebrate the life and legacy of Dylan Thomas, one of Britain’s most influential poets and playwrights.

Once Dylan Thomas’s home and muse, Laugharne now hosts Luxury Lodges’ flagship resort, perched above the Taf Estuary next to the poet’s former Boathouse.

To honour his birthday on what would have been October 27, the resort is hosting a series of literary events that capture the spirit of the place that inspired Under Milk Wood and Poem in October on Sunday, October 26.

Guests can explore Laugharne’s literary landmarks, enjoy poetry readings, and hear stories from those who continue to keep Thomas’s legacy alive.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • Guided Literary Walk: Explore Laugharne’s poetic landmarks, including Browns Hotel and Pelican House
  • Poem in October Reading: A moving recital at John’s Hill or, weather permitting, at Thomas’ graveside
  • Dylan’s Final Resting Place: Hear stories from the Boathouse team during a reflective visit
  • Boathouse Tour & Q&A: Guest poetry readings and insights into Thomas’ creative process

Those wishing to make Laugharne’s beauty a permanent part of their story will also have the opportunity to purchase a Luxury Lodges Residence, priced between £345,000 and £650,000. Each lodge is styled as a “poem in place”, inspired by literary forms and emotions.

Homes include The Solace, reflecting themes of comfort and tranquillity; The Canto, a nod to classical structure and craft; and The Wilde, celebrating Oscar Wilde’s artistic flair and wit.

Jack Hurley, Commercial Director at Luxury Lodges, commented: “Dylan Thomas’ connection with Laugharne continues to captivate visitors from around the world. This enduring popularity not only draws people to the destination, but also makes our Residences highly sought after by purchasers.

“The literary link adds a unique appeal, supporting strong rental demand and helping our owners achieve year-round returns”.
