President Marilyn welcomed everyone to the November meeting of Summerhill WI, especially new members Eirianwen Harries, Sue Wall, Wendy Miller and Sue Hill.

Apologies were noted and birthday greetings given to Eirianwen, Sue Wall and Marilyn. Sympathy was extended to Sue Evans on the recent loss of her father-in-law.

Hilary was thanked for the table flowers with all ladies thanked for their excellent festive PATCH donations of toys and food which Marlene will kindly deliver to Milford Haven.

The ladies who went to the coffee morning in Kilgetty had a very pleasant morning helping to raise money for Withybush Cancer Day Unit.

Following discussions, there were 10 options for 2024 speakers; these will be shortlisted to add to the ones already booked for the programme.

Names and menu choices were taken for the November 30 meal at Noble Court, Narberth and the December 11 chip supper in Summerhill Hall.

Members were informed that St Issell’s WI will have their Carol Service at 2pm on Friday, December 8 at Begelly Church with Stepaside Chapel holding their Candlelit Carol Service at their chapel in Pleasant Valley at 4pm on Sunday, December 10.

The federation letter was read and discussed and with no further business the 2023 AGM took place.

The 2022 minutes were read and approved and the treasurer’s report given. Linda gave the annual report of what had once again proved to be an interesting and busy year. President Marilyn gave her address in which she thanked her officers, committee members and all ladies for their continued support during her term of office.

Marilyn Davies is still the President of Summerhill WI and all officers and committee members remain in place.

The main meeting continued with social time and refreshments which included a lovely selection of homemade cakes made and served by the committee. The raffle was drawn with Eirianwenn the lucky winner.

Next meeting will be on Monday December 11 at 7pm in Summerhill Hall where there will be a chip supper followed by John Manchester who will give a chocolate tasting demonstration. Ladies were reminded to bring their wrapped lucky dip gifts and also Christmas cards to exchange.

Between the meeting and going to press it is with great sadness that members of Summerhill WI express their deepest sympathy to Marlene Davies on the sudden loss of her husband, Alan.
