This Saturday, November 26, Santa is coming to Tenby. He will be arriving on the Tenby Lifeboat at 4.30pm. To prepare, everyone is invited to a Jam jar lantern making workshop in the De Valence Pavilion on Upper Frog Street from 2pm to 4pm. Pop in and make a lantern (you could bring an old jam jar if you have one) to light your way as you parade with Santa up to Tudor Square where he will turn on the Christmas Tree Lights. There will also be entertainment in Tudor Square from 1pm, and Santa’s Grotto will open in the De Valence afterwards at 5.30pm. You can go and see Santa for a small charge.

Tenby Arts Club Presents St Mary’s Handbell Ringers

This Friday, November 25, Tenby Arts Club is pleased to be having a concert by St Mary’s Church Handbell Ringers. This will be at 6pm in St Johns Church House and will be the normal entrance fee. Everyone is welcome, and there will be tea/coffee and biscuits afterwards.

Pamper Evening

Also on Friday, November 25, there will also be a Pamper Evening from 6pm at Augustus Place Hall. Come along and treat yourself to a bit of pampering. There is a suggested donation and people are welcome to bring refreshments and/or an activity to share.

Red Planet Day

Monday, November 28 is Red Planet Day, a day to find out about and celebrate Mars, the Red Planet. This is our nearest planet and can sometimes be seen in the sky without needing a telescope. People have told stories about Martians for hundreds if not thousands of years. Perhaps you could write a story in honour of Red Planet Day. You could make a paper plate red planet, with paint or collage or anything else you would like. You can do a great space background for it, by flicking white paint onto dark blue or black paper or cardboard with a toothbrush. You could then display four Mars on it, and maybe you could do the other planets too and have a whole solar system.

St Andrew’s Day

Wednesday, November 30 is St Andrew’s Day. St Andrew is the Patron Saint of Scotland, so this is a good excuse to celebrate all things Scottish. You could have haggis, neaps and tatties for tea, or make some shortbread. The Scottish flag is great to do some art or craft with. You could listen to some bagpipe music and try some Highland or Scottish country dancing.

Tenby Food Hub Collection

Thursday, December 1 is the day to put an order in for delivery on Thursday, December 8. You get a lovely selection of either fruit, vegetables or salad for £5. There is a box, some order forms and envelopes at the back of the Old Chapel on Lower Frog Street, Tenby to put your order and the cash in. Fresh and Fruity of Milford will deliver a lovely selection for you.

PATCH Christmas Toy Collection Point

You can also go to the Old Chapel in Lower Frog Street to drop off toys for Christmas presents that PATCH can give to families who might otherwise not have a very good Christmas at all. The Old Chapel is open from 10am to 4pm Tuesdays to Saturdays and you can drop gifts in anytime. You could also stop to have soup, a sandwich, cakes, tea or coffee from their café while you are there, it is all available for a donation. There is also a Community Fridge in the back corner where food that is going to landfill is rescued, and everyone is needed to help rescue it by checking whenever they can to see if there is something they can use.

Tenby Boccia and Kurling Club

Each Friday afternoon from 1 to 3pm in Augustus Place Community Hall, you can go along and have a game of Boccia or Kurling. Boccia is a bit like Boules but played indoors, and Kurling is like the game played on ice, but the pucks have little wheels that you roll along the floor towards the target. They can both be played seated, so are great games for all abilities. No experience is necessary, the main aim is to meet up, have some tea or coffee, some laughter and warmth, and enjoy a game of Boccia or Kurling as well.

Augustus Place Community Hall is open from 10.30 in the morning and Sam Skyrme-Blackhall is hoping to come along in the morning so that you can have a ‘chat with a councillor’.

Urban Thinkscape

For the first stage of this project, a mural along the back wall of the space under the North Walk Zig Zag is planned. Everyone is asked to send in a design fitting a coastal theme that could be part of this mural. You can email it to [email protected] or drop it in the Council Office in the De Valence Pavilion on Upper Frog Street. The plan is to use every design, and that people in Tenby, particularly young people will help to paint it on the wall.
