Urban Thinkscape
This is a project to cheer up the space under the North Walk zig zag that used to be an arcade. The first stage is to paint a mural along the back wall. Please could people send in elements to go in the mural. These must have a coastal theme and can be digital or on paper. It is hoped to use everything sent in somewhere on the mural. Send them to [email protected] or drop them in to the town council office in the De Valence on Upper Frog Street. This is open to anyone – the more the better!
Bella Voce
On Friday evening, December 2, there is no meeting of Tenby Arts Club so that everyone is able to go to the Bella Voce concert in St Mary’s Church. They have performed in the past for Tenby Arts Club and are well worth hearing!
Next Friday, December 9, Tenby Arts Club is holding their 75th Anniversary Dinner and that concludes the programme for 2022. Watch this space for details of meetings in 2023!
Small Business Saturday
Saturday December 3 is Small Business Saturday. This is an opportunity to celebrate the small businesses that we have in Tenby and the surrounding areas. Lots of small businesses in Tenby have posters up celebrating 10 years of Small Business Saturday. How many can you find around Tenby tomorrow? Did you realise how many small businesses there are? This is a great time to support them as much as possible- wouldn’t it be dreadful if they weren’t there when we needed them!
Christmas Past and Present
The Tudor Merchant’s House is opening especially for Christmas this Saturday and Sunday, December 3 and 4, and the following two Saturdays and Sundays from 11 to 4pm. Go along to discover how the Tudors celebrated Christmas, write a letter with your wishes, and meet Santa. There is a charge for children, which includes a present, and adults are free.
Films4Tenby presents ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’
On Tuesday, December 6, Films4Tenby will be showing the mystery thriller Where the Crawdads Sing (2022, 125 mins, cert 15) at the De Valence, with the doors opening at 6.30 and the film starting at 7pm. The film is based on the acclaimed 2018 novel by Delia Owens. The brilliant British actress Daisy Edgar-Jones (Cold Feet, Normal People) stars as Kya, a young woman who raises herself alone in the North Carolina marshes in the 1950s and finds herself accused of a murder by the local townsfolk. There is an entrance fee, and there is also the opportunity to book a pre-screening two-course meal with the Fuschia Caffe – book this directly with the café.
Tenby Food Hub
Fresh and Fruity of Milford will be a delivering to the Old Chapel in Lower Frog Street on Thursday, December 8, the selections of fruit, vegetables and/or salad for £5 that were ordered by yesterday -if you would like one please email [email protected] today, Friday and you will be added to the order. If you have put an order in, it will be ready to pick up after 1pm. The last chance to put in an order will be by the following Thursday, December 15 for delivery on the 22nd. You need to put your payment in cash in an envelope with the order form in the box at the back of the Old Chapel café on the piano. The produce is quite often grown by Fresh and Fruity themselves and is lovely.
Boccia and Kurling Social Club
This is happening in Augustus Place Community Hall on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm. Everyone is welcome to come along to have a go. You can play both these sports while seated if you wish, so they are accessible to everyone. No experience is necessary, the main aim is to meet up for tea, coffee, laughter and warmth!
Tenby Community Fridge
The Fridge will be shut from Christmas Eve until Tuesday, January 17, as the Old Chapel is having a bit of a refit, and Ian and Rebecca (and the fridge volunteers!) are having a well-deserved break. Until then – and afterwards! – can everyone please try and get along when they can to use up some bread? There is regularly bread left over and even Greenacres is having trouble using it. The more people who can come to the Old Chapel in Lower Frog Street from Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 4pm the better! The aim is to rescue food from being wasted, not to have to throw it away after all.
There is also a plan to create some recipe leaflets giving ways to use bread in cooking – if you have favourite recipes to do this, please could you drop them in to the Old Chapel when you pop in for bread, or email them to [email protected]. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
A Christmas Gift for Tenby
An idea to ponder – why not think about getting a gift for the town instead? Some suggestions have been a plant for one of the public gardens, a book for the library, what do you suggest?
