The entertainments firm interested in running Tenby's De Valence Pavilion have outlined plans to local councillors on how they would set about establishing the facility as the number one venue in the area.

Steve Bines, of SUB Live Ltd, gave a further presentation to the town council on Tuesday night on how he envisaged a partnership where his company could work alongside the De Valence Trust in running the venue, with the council still retaining ownership of the building in Upper Frog Street.

Mr. Bines said that his immediate plans for the facility would be to refurbish the front café and refit the bars in the main hall, which could help generate some revenue.

"The key to the first phase would be to reinvigorate the frontage of the building and get the café open to bring the building to life and get it looking alive again," he explained.

"The café would be the focal point of the building, a meeting place for prams and laptops you could say, a facility for parents and children to enjoy, and one where business people meet," he continued, stating that he would like to develop a venue that would trade successfully and provide a service to the community for the next 30 years and beyond.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that it was key for the De Valence Trust, which was in the process of being formed, to have some form of control in the partnership, so that they could determine what events they would like to see put on for the community.

She explained that the Trust would hold a meeting over the next few days to discuss the ideas that Mr. Bines had put forward.

During the discussions, town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told councillors that he had spoken to the owners of Silent World Aquarium since the last meeting of the council, and they had stated that they were no longer interested in leasing the De Valence building, as the backer they had on board to establish a new visitor attraction for the area, favoured another site which didn't present the locality problems that the De Valence did.

Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans and Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain both stipulated that they wanted to see facts and figures, a business plan and all legal agreements in black and white in front of them before the town council entered into an agreement to lease the De Valence to the Trust and potential operators, SUB Live.

"We cant just go galloping into this without a saddle," commented Clr. Mrs. Evans.
