Children in Year 6 have been rewarded for their efforts in all areas of the curriculum. The winners of the awards for 2008 are as follows: overall academic award winner - Ben Turner; mathematics award - Sopia Kaparty; English award - Gareth Williams; science award - Matthew Davies; art award - Ariana Williams; most caring pupil - Curtis Evans; cricket award - Harry Thomas; football award - Josh Griffiths; netball award - Courtney Harris; rugby award - Curtis Evans; service to sport - Rebekah Gwyther; most improved reader - Charlotte Carrier.
There are also winners in each class. Nursery - Orlando Williams and Ellaouise Barratt; pre- reception - Jack Davies and Nina Scrivens; reception - Joel Slade and Carolanne Keane; Year 1 - Max Probert and Hollie-Mae Lewis; Year 2 - Jamie Wright and Kaylee Lowe; Year 3 - Ben Pugh and Kaitlyn Hicks; Year 4 - Oliver Richards and Lisa Allen; Year 5 - Jordan Gorman and Lucy Godwin.
Years 1 and 2 enjoyed their educational visit to North Beach, Tenby and the Silent World Aquarium. The children went rock pooling in the morning at Goscar Rock and then visited the Silent World Aquarium in the afternoon. They had a fantastic day out and would like to thank the staff at Silent World.
Pupils presented Miss Rowell with their own special leaving presents as Miss Rowell is leaving the school this term. Everyone was sorry to see Miss Rowell leave after years of dedicated service to both Pentlepoir and Stepaside Schools. Everyone wishes her well for the future.
Winners of the football and netball house matches were Grove House. Captains of Grove are Gareth Williams and Gabriella Butler and vice-captains are Courtney Harris and Kieran Hogan.
Winners of the Kilgetty in Bloom award 2008 went to Max Probert, Year 1, and Jamie Wright, Year 2. The children had to draw and colour a floral picture.
Thank you to the junior road safety officers who organised their final event at Stepaside School by way of a 'Bright Clothes Day'. A fashion show was held in the school hall for the JRSOs to judge.
