Tenby's U16s football team are the most successful squad in Tenby's history. Most of the boys have been playing together since they were eight years old under the guidance of coach Angela Nicholls.

Over this period of time she has seen a group of football mad young boys develop into skilful, mature players who have a great understanding of the game and who have been very successful in their junior footballing careers.

This season alone they have won their respective league for the third consecutive year, reached the semi-finals of the West Wales Cup, beating several top notch Swansea teams on the way, and reached the Pembrokeshire League Cup Final for the fourth successive year.

Several players have had trials with Swansea City and Cardiff City, are members of the Pembrokeshire Academy in Haverfordwest and have been part of the Pembrokeshire County Schools set up when it was functioning.

Over the years, the squad has been supported and encouraged by Neil Finlay, of Neil Finlay Cars, Jim and Mairaid Thomas, of The Picnic Basket, Nic Johns (linesman) and a loyal group of parents who have followed the team and supported it in many ways.

As a reward for their loyalty and determination over the years, Tenby have entered this squad into the prestigious All Wales International Tournament (formerly the Ian Rush Tournament), being held at Aberystwyth in July.

Other fund-raising events include a karaoke night being staged at the Three Mariners and the Fire Brigade will be holding a car wash in the near future, while the players and mums will be taking part in a sponsored swim.

Whilst the squad are very grateful for the help so far received, they are still looking for more sponsorship to back up the players' own financial contributions to meet the tournament costs involved.
