Last Sunday's service began with a great time of praise and worship, led by Jacqueline Rodda, on piano.
After the time of worship, Pastor Jonathan Fiddy took the stage to deliver the word which had been laid on his heart for the week. He spoke on the importance of having a strong foundation in the word, and knowing how to stand on it. We need to know what the word says about our situations, about our predicaments, because the same tempter who came into the Garden of Eden to deceive Adam and Eve, who tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, and who entered into Judas is alive and around today. In the western world, we do not see a clear manifestation, because his main aim is to hide his existence, he wants to be seen as a cartoon character, a false entity. But he is there, he speaks in our doubts, as a condemner, the word describes him as 'the accuser of the brethren', he speaks to attack the word, he speaks through the media.
Jonathan said: "I have to question, when I hear the things on our media that are meant to be scientific, but yet continually deny the word of God, continually attack the authenticity of scripture, without a solid base behind them.
"I recognise behind those things, is the father of lies. The enemy has been twisting the word of God at least as far back as Adam and Eve, where he asked has God really said, you shall not eat of the fruit."
Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, but Jesus knew the word! He did not allow the enemy to deceive him!
Its so important that we know what the word says. When Satan accuses you, tells you that you are not worthy, highlights past sins and regrets, questions your salvation, we can go back to the word 'When I confess my sin. He is faithful and just to forgive me of all my sins, and to cleanse me of all unrighteousness' (1 John 1:7). We must not let the enemy deceive us! The Word says the he only comes to 'kill, steal, and destroy' (John 10:10).
The enemy will always try and make us doubt what the Lord has said, to us personally, and what the word says. But when we stand on the word, we can recognise the lie, and proclaim the truth.
This week, Pastor Edward Evans will conclude his highly important and interesting two part series on Spiritual Warfare.
